Mike Trout Impressive Home Run Streak (7 Consecutive Games)
The Los Angeles Angels and Mike Trout were off to a hot start to begin the 2022 MLB season. It looked like the Angels could finally be on their way to the playoffs before things began to go bad. The Angels began the year winning 8 of their first 13 games. The Angels then kept rolling on their way to a 24-13 record in mid-May, and something amazing started happening. Mike Trout had recently been on impressive streak hitting a home run in seven-straight games. The streak began on September 4th and extended to September 12th. The consectuive home runs became headlines and sparked excitement among Los Angeles Angels fans who were speculating whether or not Trout would make history.
With his ongoing home runs, Trout reminded the league that he still is arguably one of the best player in baseball. While 20% of his home runs in the season so far just happened recently, he still had an impressive overall season. Trout became one of only nine total players in the history of the MLB who went on to hit a home run in seven consecutive games. Joey Votto was the latest batter before Trout to hit a homer in seven-straight games just last season. Only three other players have hit a home run in eight-consecutive games and they are Ken Griffey Jr. in 1993 with the Seattle Mariners, Don Mattingly who did it with the NY Yankees in 1987, and Dale Long back in 1956 with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On September 13th Mike Trout attempted to tie the record of hitting his eighth consecutive home run, but came up short. In the first inning Trout looked like he was gunning for one but popped it up to the shallow center field. In his next at-bat Trout was walked on four pitches. His final two trips on deck, Trout gave it his best, but ended up with a couple of flyouts to the outfield. Mike Trout 7-game home run streak is still remarkable and we look forward to seeing more from him.
